Ngala Hansel is a Cameroonian journalist and communications expert with some 15 years of combined experience in both fields. Hans began his career in 2010 as a News Presenter at the now-defunct HelenKriss FM Radio in Kumbo, NWR.
He later worked for The Guardian Post and Summit magazine briefly before joining the Press Division of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services as a Communications Officer.
After a two-year stint with the CBC Health Services, Hansel was admitted into CityVarsity School of Media and Creative Arts in Cape Town, South Africa where he graduated with a Higher Certificate in Journalism. From there, he traveled to Johannesburg and obtained his BA and MA from Wits University where his Master’s thesis focused on the role of community radio stations in conflict resolution in Africa.
Hansel served with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in Chad as a Communications Consultant, providing MAF Chad with media expertise. In 2024, he was hired by Mercy Ships to serve as a Writer and Communication Officer in Madagascar writing patients’ stories, interviewing doctors and nurses etc.
In May 2026, Hansel launched West African Health Report which is Cameroon’s first digital health-focused news platform to fill a critical information gap on health issues in Cameroon.
